Tennessee Kids Deserve the BEST SCHOOLS
Our schools are currently underfunded by nearly $1 billion. Despite this, the Governor and Secretary of Education are pushing the voucher scam and have proposed a funding model that shifts money out of public schools to private charter schools, sponsored by Hillsdale College. I will join the TN3 to be a champion for public education on the state level and also work with our county and city governments to prepare residents for the inevitable funding gap which will require local governments to raise property taxes to make up the funding shortfall for public schools.
Protect LGBTQ+
Every year the GOP supermajority puts forward a ‘slate of hate’ — a constant barrage of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation that promotes discrimination and puts big-brother-government in our bedrooms. I work with groups like the Tennessee Equality Project to stop these bills from getting out of committee and I will work to pass bills that would actually benefit Tennesseans not harm them.
